Schools in India

Here in Bangalore, Azim Premji Foundation try their best at improving the state in education in the government schools. I visited them this week and was very impressed. Many areas are covered and to make it happen one would not just need Wipro's CEO, Mr Premji, but also Infosys Nandan Nilekani, whose book Imagining India I am reading and you can hear at YT.

I also visited The Valley School, a free spirited private school founded on the principles of J Krishnamurti. Very nice and open atmosphere which enhances learning through kind guidance and support rather than rote learning and control.

I do have high hopes for India's education but I am not alone, so it will happen. eventually. See National Knowledge Commission and Nilekani's bloggpost
